Pathfields Medical Group and Sexual Health Services

Pathfields Medical Group offer a range of sexual health services are offered at the surgery including:

  • Contraception and contraception advice
  • Emergency contraception and emergency contraception advice
  • Testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as chlamydia, syphilis, gonorrhoea and genital warts
  • Testing and counselling for HIV and AIDS

If you need advice and support with a sexual health matter or you think you have a problem you would like to discuss, please call the surgery to make an appointment with your GP.

Sexual health services are freely available for everyone.

SHiP – Sexual Health in Plymouth

SHiP run pre-booked clinics and ‘walk-in and wait’ sessions at several different sites around Plymouth where friendly, expert healthcare professionals are on hand to help.

The main clinics are at based at Derriford Hospital, the Cumberland Centre and The Zone, plus they run satellite clinics at other locations on certain days of the week.

All 16 – 24 year olds with a womb can request free STI testing kits online which will be delivered to their home address. Simply request via this link: Yourship Home STI Test Kits or for Chlamydia Screening kits – Chlamydia test kit

Where can I get Emergency Contraception?

Emergency contraception can be prescribed by your GP. Please contact the surgery at your earliest opportunity to either make an urgent appointment or to be added to our urgent phone call list for one of our Acute Medical Team members to call you back.

Free emergency contraception services are also available at SHiP Clinics and by using enhanced-service-pharmacies in your local area.

Pregnancy Advice

If you have found out that you are pregnant, you may have some questions. Appointments with our team of GP’s and Nurse Practitioners are available by telephoning daily at 8am for an on the day appointment, or if you prefer a telephone slot can be booked for you to discuss your questions or concerns over the telephone.

Appointments with the midwife can be booked at the surgery between 8-10 weeks of pregnancy, but if you wish to speak to a midwife before your appointment please speak to our reception team.
