Appointments during Covid-19

To make attending the surgery as safe as possible we have taken huge steps to try and maintain your safety. By taking these measures we feel we have minimised the risk of infection and appointments are as safe as they can be. If you are a patient who is shielding you can choose to use our freezing site (at Armada surgery) or attend any of our cold sites.   All are likely to be safe for you, but the added protection of the freezing site will likely to appeal to some of our patients.
  • We operate hot cold and freezing site policy
  • Anyone with COVID symptoms or anyone we think is at risk of having a COVID infection is seen separately at our Devonport “hot” hub
  • Most people are seen at any of our sites that are “cold” – people are screened for infective symptoms and temperature before coming in.
  • We have a “freezing site” for those that are shielding where we use full reverse barrier PPE with additional cleaning to protect shielded patients from us
  • We check the temperatures of all staff and patients on arrival at all our buildings (if anyone’s temperature is over 37.8 they are turned away)
  • We ask patients and staff about symptoms of COVID infection in their household prior to any attendance at our buildings – they are not allowed in if they have any symptoms
  • We have redesigned our waiting rooms to facilitate social distancing, our freezing site has a no waiting room policy with people called in from outside /their cars
  • We have the minimum number of people in the building at any one time
  • We ask all people arriving at our building to use alcohol gel on arrival
  • We wear masks and gloves for all clinical contact to keep you safe
  • If you do not have your own mask we will provide one for you when you enter the building
